UPSL Women Announces California Expansion with Desert FC

Palm Desert, CA Based Club Joins UPSL Women Ahead of 2021 Season

December 28, 2020 – Los Angeles, CA – UPSL Women is pleased to announce Desert Futbol Club as its newest expansion team ahead of the 2021 Spring Season.

Based in Palm Desert, CA, Desert FC will begin play in the Western Conference SoCal Division. The club will host its home games at Shadow Hills High School (39225 Jefferson St Indio, CA 92203).

UPSL Women National Director Paul Caligiuri said, "We are excited to welcome Desert FC as the first official club in UPSL Women, and we're proud to be a part of expanding opportunities for women's soccer in the United States. Desert FC is ready to take a big step as UPSL Women is here to open up the development space for players and clubs across the country. We look forward to Desert FC continuing its journey in UPSL Women."

Zachary Holiday is Owner and General Manager of Desert FC. Tom Woodworth will serve as Head Coach.

"I decided to start a women's club team because of the vast talent in the Coachella Valley. I heard that UPSL Women was starting so I reached out and got a call from Paul Caligiuri. I knew immediately that I wanted to come on board with the UPSL. The exposure that these young women will be receiving is great. I'm excited and our players are itching to get back on the pitch," Holliday said.

Desert FC will announce tryouts and its upcoming game schedule.

Desert Futbol Club is an American Soccer club currently based in Indio, CA, and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Desert FC will begin play in the UPSL Women's SoCal Division.

Founded in 2020, Desert FC is a member of the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
